    Project Engineer, Project Manager, Commissioning & Qualification, since July 2019

    • Project manager for the redesign of the 10k sq.ft. Manufacturing Sciences & Technology (MSAT) space. Responsible for project schedule, design scope for mechanical, electrical, lab gas, instrumentation & controls, trade coordination, vendor installs, equipment logistics and commissioning. MSAT space includes small volume production, cell expansion, upstream, downstream, and analytical labs.
    • Assisting leading team of bioprocess engineers, validation, instrumental and controls engineers, quality analysts, and system owners in commissioning and qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) of $44M of cGMP biomanufacturing & research equipment for plant startup.
    • Project manager responsible for relocating $3M off-site active R&D lab and integrating into the main RTP facility. Scope includes cryogenic cell bank transportation logistics.

    Originating from the NC State Engineering Entrepreneurship Program, FilterDetect is a multi-discipline engineering team with a goal to revolutionize the HVAC and Air Filter Industry. FilterDetect placed in the 2016 NC State Small Business Competition the Lulu eGames in the Design & Prototype Challenge and won the "Judges Choice Award".     Alpha Beta Tomata is a brand and community dedicated to inclusiveness, meeting new friends, and having fun in college. A pun on the tradition exclusive fraternity, ABT is an "open for all" social organization. I co-founded "Alpha Beta Tomata" at NC State in Raleigh, NC in 2013. Alpha Beta Tomata is striving to create an inviting community focused on having a good time with both old and new friends. Currently selling Alpha Beta Tomata merchandise to fund parties and social gatherings.

    Originating out of the NC State EI Garage, I founded and ran my own laser wood cutting small business called "T-Carey Woodworks". I manufactured, marketed, and distributed custom laser cut wood monograms and other wall hanging art pieces. Please take a look at my work at T-Carey Woodworks. I sold out of 4 stores in the Raleigh area, as well as doing numerous deals with NC State Sororities.

    Keynote Presentation

    My "Career Fair Blueprint" presentation covers the critical aspects of the career fair emphasizing preparation, time management, and a “follow-up relationship-based process” to help students discover and land career-altering opportunities.

    • Guest Presenter for the NC State Graduate School's "Accelerate to Industry" Program, helping graduate students and post-docs transition to industry opportunities.
    • Presentation is also delivered twice a year to various NC State Student Engineering Professional Organisations including AIChE, ASME, and ASHRAE.

    Presentation Bio:

    Taylor Carey is an NC State Mechanical Engineer and full-time mechanical engineer at CRB Consulting Engineers in Raleigh, NC working for the past 4+ years in Research Triangle Park (RTP), NC. Taylor graduated with his undergraduate and graduate degrees in mechanical engineering in 2016 and 2019 respectively. Taylor has attended every NC State Engineering Career Fair since 2012 as both a job seeker and a recruiter and has used the lessons learned to develop a system that maximizes a person’s ability to obtain internships and full-time opportunities. This presentation touches on the critical aspects of the career fair emphasizing preparation, time management, and a “follow-up relationship-based process” to help students discover and land career-altering opportunities.
